The Bicentenary Publications Project was undertaken by the Commonwealth Parliament as a contribution to the Bicentenary of Australia. The Project was launched in 1981 and involved a program of publications and oral history interviewing. A definitive history of the development of the Parliament of the Commonwealth, written by Gavin Souter, was published in 1988.
